31st January 2013
Well I managed the first month which is a little surprising if I'm honest. Only 334 more days to go. I got a Darth Vader Mr Potato Head for Christmas and I decided on a close up of the eyes for today's shot. Not quite as menacing as the original Darth but still pretty cool.

Poker Face
30th January 2013
Apologies I've been relying on Lego a lot these last few days - it's been a busy week and I'm not getting much chance to plan these more thoroughly. Anyway, today I found a tiny poker table keyring I got given as a present some years ago, and thought the Stormtroopers could use a game to relax

DAFNE
28th January 2013
I'm using my 365 Project for a number of things really. Mostly it's to improve and practice my photography, but it's also to document the year as best I can. Today I went on the first day of a week long DAFNE (Dose Adjustment For Normal Eating) course relating to my insulin pump. This is the front of the course material.

Chicken Joke
27th January 2013
I've not taken a Lego picture for a while (which is pretty criminal given how many Lego people and things I have). I recently acquired the chicken man and couldn't resist a variant on the age old "Why did the chicken cross the road?" joke

Sledging
26th January 2013
After another 4 inches of snow last night, this morning was the perfect opportunity to head to the park for some sledging. This is a shot I captured looking across the hill. There's also a panaroma shot from the top of the hill which you can see on my Flickr feed

Wentworth Village
25th January 2013
Down the road from yesterday's afternoon tea destination is a village called Wentworth. The inspiration for today's photo came from the gift card that the afternoon tea voucher came in. I popped back up today with the right lens on my camera to take this picture.

(The gift card picture is below - I didn't have time to head down the path to match the shot exactly)

Afternoon Tea
24th January 2013
I bought my wife an afternoon tea gift voucher for Christmas and we went out for mini sandwiches and cakes today. The local garden centre to us has a HUGE tea room attached to it that does great food and our tea was no exception.

All In
23rd January 2013
Back to the gambling theme today with a shot of some of the poker chips I saved from my Vegas trip in 2011. The Bellagio one is my favourite, and was also the first casino I ever gambled in (and I won as well!).

Daisy
22nd January 2013
Not wanting to spam the project with snow photos, I headed back indoors today for a an extreme macro shot of a daisy. The depth of field is phenomenally shallow so this is a tad out of focus, but I still like the effect

Snow Acer
21st January 2013
Having left my camera at home today, I was cursing myself driving past numerous tress covered in snow. Fortunately the acer in the garden looked pretty special (though not as much as the forest I drove past on the way home).

Snowmen
20th January 2013
We were gripped with snow "chaos" over the weekend but instead of building a bunker and panic buying everything in a tin, my daughter and I built a family of snowmen out in the garden.

Bingo Hall
19th January 2013
I did a photoshoot for a friend of mine this weekend and one of the locations we were lucky enough to use was a a bingo hall. I'm in the process of reviewing the pictures but this was one of the test shots I did and I quite like the perspective on it.

Read 'em and weep
18th January 2013
When I think of photos of everyday objects, I always seem to think of cards arranged like this so I took my own shot. I think I'll try and go for a bit of a toys/games theme this week. Or gambling.

The Queen's Nose
17th January 2013
I mentioned a few days ago I was waiting for something before I took one of the pictures I wanted. My coupling ring came today and I snapped this extreme close up of the Queen's nose on a £2 coin. Hoping I can get some really good images with this technique

15th January 2013
Today's picture is kind of in tandem with my the post on my other blog. After tomorrow, I won't be using the insulin pen that's been a part of my life for the last 11 years

Bottle Opener
14th January 2013
A final return to the "stuff in the kitchen" series. I did have something better planned but I'm waiting on a delivery of a small, but crucial piece of equipment so I'll postpone that until a later date. I stand by my previous statement that the everyday things are so much more interesting viewed close up.

Butterfly
13th January 2013
We went to Tropical Butterfly House in North Anston today. After my camera finally acclimatised from the freezing cold outside to the humid indoors, I managed to snap this glass wing butterfly.
There are a few other pictures of flowers, butterflies and loris (as well as some meditating lemurs) on my Flickr page

Sandal Castle
12th January 2013
Today's picture is a shot of the ruins of Sandal Castle in Wakefield. There are some incredible views from the (remaining) castle and it's a nice place to have a walk round. It's not very big but it's very nice.
There are a few other pictures of the day out on my Flickr page (including a couple of HDRs) if you're interested.

Sieve
11th January 2013
The penultimate in the "stuff from my kitchen" series (at least for now). It's wonderful how many implements have such good recurring patterns and the humble sieve is no exception!

Stars
10th January 2013
I'll admit that this isn't the best shot I'll ever take, but for a hastily-thrown-together picture taken in my back garden (with a LOT of light pollution) I don't think it's too bad. Focusing is a bit of an issue and this is just out but it's a good place to start.
If you look to the right of centre, you can see The Plough running top to bottom

Potato Masher
9th January 2013
I'd anticipated a better shot of a starry night but cloud has come to thwart me. Instead I've continued the kitchen theme from yesterday (and may continue it for the rest of the week). This time a close up of a potato masher - I love the patterns you get from close ups.

Cheese Grater
8th January 2013
Today's picture is another one of those that I've wanted to take for ages but never got round to doing. It's a simple one, but I love the patterns you find on a cheese grater

Hallway

I like the way the light falls over the staircase and hallway from the landing when there are no other lights on at home. I'm not sure this picture does it justice though

Monkey Puzzle
6th January 2013
I'd already shot a "reverse ring" macro of yesterday's gerbera this morning when I happened upon this monkey puzzle tree on a day out. I'd left my tripod at home but still happy with how it looks shot handheld

Gerbera
5th January 2013
Didn't bother taking my camera out to the shops today, but did buy some flowers that I photographed instead. I like taking pictures of gerbera and I like how you can see individual flecks of pollen.

Cloudy Sunrise
3rd January 2013
I took this waiting for a spectacular sunrise which never came - fortunately the cloud more than made up for it. I ended up with 3 versions of this scene and think this is the best.
